Arturo de Giorgi

My name is Arturo. I was born in Parma, a small city in northern Italy. During high school I developed a lasting passion for physics — I was fascinated by the idea of "energy", and it was special relativity, connecting mass and energy, that convinced me to study physics rather than engineering.

That choice took me across Europe: a B.Sc. in Padova, an M.Sc. at LMU Munich, and a Ph.D. at the Instituto de Física Teórica (UAM/CSIC) in Madrid, along with research stays at ETH Zürich, Harvard University, Heidelberg, and KEK in Tsukuba, Japan. I am now a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP), Durham University, working on the phenomenology of physics beyond the Standard Model.

My research centres on extra-dimensional scenarios and the Kaluza-Klein gravitational sector — its spin-2, vector, and scalar towers — and how it connects to dark matter, axions, and neutrinos across collider, astrophysical, and cosmological scales. In 2025 this work was recognised with the Italian Physical Society's "Giuliano Preparata" Prize in Theoretical Physics. There are still many questions I would like answers to, and I look forward to chasing them.
